There are funding opportunities available for sonography and ultrasound students who volunteer at Veterans Affairs medical centers as well. Need-based grants awarded based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may also be available to you. And, if none of these options work out for you, there are always student loans from the state and federal government, which have low interest rates and can be paid back over very long periods of time with convenient consolidation programs. There are many programs to help you pay for the necessary schooling, so you can get a degree and begin working in these exciting radiological careers.

Ultrasound machines can provide invaluable information about a woman’s pregnancy and her growing baby. The physician is able to determine the gestational age, growth rate and location of the fetus. Also, the ultrasound can be used to find out if there are any abnormalities with the fetus or whether the mother has any problems such as an ectopic pregnancy or whether there are more than one growing baby in her womb. Fetal sex and abnormalities can be misdiagnosed so ultrasound results are not guaranteed to be accurate.
