Logitech hits a home run on this one

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

I purchased the Harmony One recently to replace a “universal remote” which simply put all device controls into a single remote. With the old one, you still had to select each device separately, and then control it. Other than cutting down the living room clutter, it did nothing to simplify operations. On the other hand, the Harmony One is everything I’d dreamed of in a remote control. It groups your devices by Activity (function), so you use a single button to watch an HD-DVD, and it goes ahead and turns on your TV, your HD player, and your stereo receiver. How much simpler can it get? You also don’t have to “shine” your component remotes into it to get it to remember their codes. Instead, you plug the Harmony One into a USB port on your computer, call up the Logitech website, select your home theater components from a list, and all the necessary codes are downloaded into your Harmony One for you. Piece of cake! And if you really want to control a single device separately, it provides a Device pushbutton which then gives you access to the single component you wish to work with. It’s a fantastic remote control and worth every penny, especially when you no longer have to go through lengthy explanations to your wife, kids and babysitters on how to operate the home theater equipment. Buy it, you’ll love it!

What people think about Digital Video Logitech WiLife

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

I own several WiLife kits and have gotten fairly familiar with them. I was excited to try out the hidden camera because I was looking for exactly such an option for my bedroom (not for anything weird though). The only other option I know for indoor Wilife cameras is the WiLife Indoor Add-On Camera DLC-810i. While that works well, the camera is fairly large and very noticeable. I tried to hide it in my ceiling, but was unable to angle the lens very well. I then tried to conceal the camera in a shoebox, but that just left clutter. Although the hidden camera is a little big for an alarm clock, it doesn’t take up too much room and works well if you’re looking to hide it. I have used hidden cameras like this before and they always look ridiculous. Anyone who glances at them for more than 5 seconds can easily tell there is something “off” about them. This clock doesn’t necessarily look like something you’d buy in the store, but it does pass the concealment test. The actual camera lens is virtually invisible.

This package is basically the exact same as the Wilife DVS800I LukWerks Indoor Starter Kit except it has the hidden camera instead of the indoor camera. For anyone considering the indoor starter kit, I recommend trying this one out instead. The price is pretty much the same, yet you get the benefit of the hidden camera.

Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 Compact Docking Speakers for iPod and iPhone

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I just got these speakers for my iphone 3G, and work well. The sound is very clear and strong enough! I listened side by side with the Altec Lansing T612, and BOSE SDII, held their. You will not get the basic amount, the units put out more, but the voice quality is very good. I need something I can listen to music in his bedroom when I sleep, and it does the trick. I’m with them everywhere, at work, washing machines, and on the porch when we grill out. Great sound, good price, and super portable. If you purchased these other discussions, I said, it’s a safe bet, and everything will be fine for most people. I have a complete home stereo system down, which contains only high quality speakers and I still love to listen Logitech block
