Bought this with my latest gen Kindle. I wondered if the additional money for the light was worth it, and after using the cover for a while the answer is yes!
First the cover itself is very nice, I like the cord that keeps the cover closed when not in use. This precludes the kindle with cover from landing wrong and damaging at the hinges. The texture of the leather is very substantial and high quality.
The light apparently draws the power from the kindle through the connectors used to attach the Kindle to the cover- very simple to hook it up.
The light itself pulls out provides a white light onto the reading surface of the kindle, with enough light onto the key pad to allow use without contortions of the light itself.
I have used it to read in bed and it works great. Very convenient with nothing “extra” to carry around. I know the next time I am on a plane, it will definitely be handy with no need to turn on the overhead reading lamp (which barely works anyway).
I would definitely buy the product with the light over the one without.

Kindle Leather Cover With Light

Ok I’ve never left a review on amazon before and this is a case for my first ever kindle. I think that the quality of it is wonderful, the kindle snaps right in and fits really snug. The leather is a bit ruff and the case stiff when you first open the box but I somewhat expect that, but having it for 2 days the case is already getting worked in quite nicely and the leather is feeling much better to the touch. I really can’t say enough on how I enjoy this case it really is a top rate product. I enjoy it almost as much as my kindle. I also do not regret getting the case without the light being a bought a set of 4 clip on lights at costco for exceedingly cheep so I will just use those.

Kindle Leather Cover Sale

I’m pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and quality of this cover. After reading online reviews, I was expecting it to be bulky – but it’s super slim and only gives the Kindle 3 a tiny heft.

Kindle Lighted Leather Cover

I’m glad that Amazon updated their original Kindle 2 cover. The color, I choose Burgandy Red, is vibrant and not tacky. The addition of the strap is great! I like that it helps keep the cover closed when I’m not using it, and helps to keep stuff from getting caught in between the cover and the Kindle. The cover still folds back nicely for ease in reading and the strap will actually assist in this, making it even more stable. I like that Amazon kept the hinge over the corner elastic tabs. I’ve always been careful when opening the cover, so I’ve never experienced the cracking described by others. The one change I might make would be to make the cover suitable for the numerous types of lights that are available for the Kindle. It would be nice to have a light that could be tucked into this cover when traveling or just when you are carrying it around.
